Robinhood Quietly Built a Blockchain. It's Now Outearning Ethereum. Sixty days ago, Robinhood Chain didn't exist. Today, it's generating more daily revenue than Ethereum itself and sending Arbitrum's token on one of its sharpest rallies of the year. Here's what actually happened, and why it matters more than a single green candle on a chart. The Numbers That Started the Rally Robinhood Chain, a dedicated Ethereum Layer-2 built on Arbitrum's Orbit technology stack, saw its daily revenue explode from roughly $49,000 on August 22 to $1.088 million on August 30 nearly a 20x increase in about a week. By September 1, that figure had climbed further, with the chain pulling in $1.92 million in revenue and $2.13 million in fees over 24 hours, according to DefiLlama data cited by CoinDesk. To put that in context: on that same day, Robinhood Chain's revenue outpaced Arbitrum's own flagship network, which generated $108,000 in chain fees over the same period and, on other measured days, reportedly exceeded Ethereum's own mainnet fee revenue as well. A blockchain built by a stock-trading app, less than two months old, was outearning the network whose technology it's built on. Total value locked on the chain reached $738.5 million, up 3.8% on the day, while decentralized exchange volume hit $1.56 billion an 89.5% increase over the previous week. Why Arbitrum's Token Jumped 30% The rally in ARB, Arbitrum's governance token, wasn't a coincidence or pure speculation. It's mechanically tied to a specific arrangement: under the Arbitrum Expansion Program, any chain built using Arbitrum's Orbit technology and settling outside the flagship Arbitrum One network is required to route 10% of its net protocol revenue back to the Arbitrum ecosystem, split between the DAO treasury and the Developer Guild. As Robinhood Chain's revenue climbed, so did Arbitrum's cut from roughly $5,400 on August 22 to $108,000 by August 30, according to calculations by ARK Invest's Lorenzo Valente. At Monday's…
